Marilyn Spink is an award-winning professional engineer and expert in metallurgical and mining processes, having spent over 25 years managing the delivery of complex mine development projects throughout the world. Today, she lends her considerable know how leading an advisory practice, GS Group, serving various global consulting firms.
Marilyn began her career in mechanical design and transitioned to steelmaking operations after completing a metallurgical engineering degree at Queen’s University. In progressive leadership roles of increasing responsibility, she managed multi-discipline engineering design teams in delivering complex mining capital projects in North and South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia ranging in value from $US500M to $9B.
Marilyn has touched many lives and had a profound impact on the developing countries in which she has worked. Through her engineering practice, she has continuously strived to enable local communities’ social development and environmental stewardship, to build their technical capacity to manage their own resources, to facilitate their transition from dying to emerging industries, and to modernize their operations to remain competitive and thrive versus survive.
